FIRST is an international organization which uses competitive robotics as a vehicle for promoting science & technology. FIRST allows high school students to work side by side with professional mentors to learn skills ranging from engineering to marketing, animation and business.
Team 4946, Alpha Dogs currently consists of bright young minded students at Humberview Secondary School. The Team was started during fall 2013 by Stefan Pleava, Cole Cyr, Brendan Fallon, and Jeremy Sant during their senior year. After the team was established, we had almost 50 members signed up to be a part of the team led by founding members Cole Cyr and Stefan Pleava.
2015 North Bay Regional
03/29/15 - The ALPHA DOGS are back in the beautiful North Bay! This past weekend (March 26th - March 28th), the ALPHA DOGS competed in the 2015 North Bay Regional with Elder Moeller having new tricks since gtrc. The ALPHA DOGS began the qualification matches 40 average, resulting in an automatic 13th place seed to start. Over the course of the event, the ALPHA DOGS continued to make improvements and going up and down the ranks. By the end of the qualification matches, the ALPHA DOGS finished 16th out of 36 teams.
1/11/14 - On November 1st, 2014, 20 members of Team 4946, ALPHA DOGS, attended Canada's first Off-Season event in 10 years, Fall Fiesta. The driver, Cole Cyr and operator, Matthew Reynolds started off the competition with a dead robot, but soon we fixed our issue and climbed through the ranks 1 by 1, eventually reaching 1st place. Alpha Dogs in the local Santa Claus Parade
06/12/14 - Recently, the city of Bolton had their annual Santa Claus Parade organized by the local kinsmen club. This year the Alpha Dogs were eager to be apart of the parade, so we signed up and were fortunate to have Sierra Excavating lend us a flat bed truck driven by Domenic Scrivo to use for our float. We decorated the float with all sorts of Christmas ornaments, trees and even went as far as to have our own Santa Claus on board. On parade day, members were up bright and early to participate in the parade As the parade went on, members waved to the crowd and gave out Alpha Dog tattoos to spread Christmas cheer. Overall, it was a great experience for all the members involved and we definitely plan on attending again next year!
